Laser Speed Cameras

A laser speed camera is a handheld device used by an enforcement officer (Police officer or operative from the Highways agency) consisting of a laser speed monitor, a sighting scope, and a video recording camera.

In order to prove the accuracy of any individual unit, there are strict procedures laid down to calibrate the unit at the Police station and again at the roadside where the unit is to be used.

If these checks have not been properly carried out then a well-presented defence could lead the Magistrates with no alternative but acquittal. As ever we would advise talking to a specialist motoring lawyer, like Julian Harris who would be able to assist in reviewing the evidence and/or representing you in court.
